Title: Engineer

 Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the design analysis and process
  • Releases advance product components and/or line of products
  • Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies
  • Maintains cost controls
  • Provides technical direction to support personnel
  •  Coordinates supportive build programs
  • Coordinates test and/or development programs
  • Coordinates engineering projects with other departments and/or divisions
  • Coordinates with suppliers and/or customers on a regular basis
  • Stays abreast of new technology

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint – Intermediate level
  • Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool – Intermediate level
  • Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally
  • Strong written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations
  • Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills
  • Partners with senior management to analyze and solve issues
  • Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently
  • Strong ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations
  • Strong understanding of materials, engineering theory and principles of design
  • Familiarity with basic hand and machine tools
  • Strong ability to use common measurement tools and techniques

Required Education/Training/Certifications/Licenses

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering

 

As a Restraints Systems Engineer, you will be responsible to develop and integrate Airbag, Seatbelt, or Steering Wheel components into the vehicle interior.

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Generating and executing technical solutions for Restraints application engineering to support new vehicle programs
  • Providing technical leadership for advanced component or technology development
  • Performing complex design analysis and evaluating engineering designs
  • Working cross-functionally to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support prototype and production build activities
  • Balancing business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing
  • Production design release of seat belt parts and subsystems
  • Communicating information to and from internal and external customer organizations
  • Staying abreast of relevant new technology and competitive products

 

Required Skills:

 

• Familiarity with the engineering of seat belt components or application into vehicles including validation and regulatory compliance

• Experienced in Design For Six Sigma

• Experience in RedX methodology

• Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

• Knowledge of seat belt components and testing, plastic materials and processes, metal forming, assembly processes, and safety regulations

• Experience working within automotive OEM systems and VDP, and experience with automotive component suppliers
