TPT and Bollinger Motors are looking for a full-time, salaried Systems Engineer â€“ Electric Vehicle to work with our team in DETROIT, MI of engineers in the Detroit, Mi area. Compensation based on experience and abilities.
This opportunity will require relocation, if you are not local to the Detroit, MI area.Â TPT will work with the new hire on temporary housing until a permanent situation is established.
Summary of the Systems Engineer â€“ Electric Vehicle In this role you will be responsible for Electric Vehicle Electrical High Voltage and Low Voltage Architecture, System Hardware Specification, System Integration.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Development of Electric Vehicle integration strategy for high voltage electrical systems
Define power generation, management, and storage architecture
Define CAN architecture and integrate vehicle communication systems
Work on wiring and connector requirements to support harness builds
Follow industry standards for vehicle electrical systems and wiring, high and low voltage
Source hardware such as sensors, actuators, motors, energy storage etc.
Select controller hardware by identifying I/O and computational requirements
Troubleshoot electrical issues ranging from harnessing to controller states
Process and analyze performance and test data and provide analysis, insight, and feedback for development
Education, Skills and Knowledge
5+ years relevant direct Electric Vehicle work experience required
Experience with vehicle electronics architecture (selecting components and suppliers, determine power needs, definite high-level requirements, etc.) and wiring schematic design
Solid knowledge of battery technology, including management systems (BMS)
Knowledge of commercial and military standards for electrical systems will be a plus
Wire harness layout and hands-on build experience
Working skills in Rapid Prototype Software Development Tools for Embedded Systems such as Matlab, Simulink, Motohawk, RaptorCal, dSPACE MABX, Vector CANape/CANalyzer and other similar tools
Experience in data acquisition hardware and analysis
Automotive, defense or motorsports industries
Communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, PLC, RS485, SPI, Wireless 802.11, DSRC etc.
Knowledge of Mechatronic component such as sensors, actuators, energy storage
