General Description
- Quality Metal Craft produces metal body panels and sub-assemblies for several OEM’s.
- The QMC team needed certain Industrial Engineering and Material Flow Engineering support due to a lack of internal expertise in those areas.
- Specifically, QMC requested TPT provide the following support.
- Initial PFEP development
- Pre-Shipment Validation to Customers
Scope
- TPT worked with the QMC team to identify and improve the QMC internal ERP system to develop the initial PFEP process to establish optimized material flow.
- TPT worked with QMC Executive Leadership team to establish clear and concise work instructions for the plant floor regarding a series of pre-shipment checks to customers.
Success
- TPT was successful in presenting QMC with various improvement recommendations to their internal ERP reporting system and the development of an initial PFEP for labor and material flow optimization widthing the Farmington Road manufacturing site.
- TPT has established pre-shipment work instructions with step-by-step verbiage and illustrative pictures to ensure that plant floor operations are properly trained in the shipping label process.
- This process improvement is also being used to hold the productions teams accountable for mis-shipments for finished products.
